As a skincare enthusiast who loves trying out new treatments, I was beyond excited to test the PMD Personal Microderm Classic. The promise of professional-grade microdermabrasion at home was too tempting to resist. Here's my full review, broken down into the essentials.

First Impressions

When I first unboxed the PMD Personal Microderm Classic, I was immediately impressed by the sleek and compact design. The device feels sturdy and well-made, not at all flimsy like some other at-home gadgets. The kit comes with everything you need to get started: the microdermabrasion machine, various exfoliating discs for different skin types, and a detailed instruction manual.

The colors are cute and the overall aesthetic is very modern. It's clear that PMD put a lot of thought into making this device both functional and visually appealing. I couldn't wait to plug it in and see if it lived up to the hype.

How It Works

So, how does this handy device work? Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that exfoliates and removes the superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells. The PMD Personal Microderm Classic uses spinning discs embedded with aluminum oxide crystals to achieve this.

There are different discs for varying levels of exfoliation, so you can choose the one that's right for your skin type and needs. But you'll need to be careful — no need to jump to the strongest level right away. You'll want to start gently on your skin.

Using the device is straightforward. You start by cleansing your face to remove any makeup or oils. Then, you choose your disc, attach it to the device and begin gliding it over your skin. The vacuum suction technology lifts and removes dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover and stimulating blood flow.

The Results

After using the PMD Personal Microderm Classic consistently for a few weeks, the results were nothing short of amazing. My skin feels noticeably smoother and looks brighter. The fine lines around my eyes, cheeks, and mouth appeared reduced.

I also noticed fewer blackheads and an overall more even skin tone; my skin was glowing. Additionally, I saw a huge difference in the skin on my chest. So, if you are using this device, don't stop at just your face!

Pros

  • Professional Results at Home: This device truly delivers spa-quality microdermabrasion in the comfort of your home. After just a few uses, my skin felt smoother and I noticed a significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines.
  • Customizable Exfoliation: The different exfoliating discs are a gamechanger. Whether you have sensitive skin or need deeper exfoliation, there's a disc for you. This makes the device suitable for all skin types.
  • Improved Product Absorption: One of the unexpected benefits was how much better my skincare products absorbed after using the PMD. Without the layer of dead skin cells, serums and moisturizers penetrate more deeply, enhancing their effectiveness.
  • Ease of Use: The device is easy to use and fits comfortably in your hand. The instruction manual is clear, and there are plenty of online tutorials if you need extra guidance.
  • Cost-Effective: Considering the cost of professional microdermabrasion treatments, the PMD is a great investment. You get unlimited treatments for a fraction of the price.

Cons

  • Initial Learning Curve: The first time I used the PMD, I was nervous about applying too much pressure or using the wrong disc. There's a learning curve, but with practice it becomes second nature.
  • Potential for Over-Exfoliation: It's crucial to follow the recommended usage guidelines and not overdo it. Over-exfoliating can lead to redness and irritation. Start slowly, especially if you have sensitive skin.
  • Replacement Discs: While the initial kit comes with several discs, you'll eventually need to purchase replacements. This is an additional cost to consider, but they're relatively affordable and worth the investment.

Bottom Line

The PMD Personal Microderm Classic is a fantastic tool for anyone looking to elevate their skincare routine with at-home microdermabrasion. It offers professional-level exfoliation, customizable settings and noticeable results. I love the convenience of being able to treat myself at home and that I can use the device on my face, neck and chest.

Sure, there's a bit of a learning curve and you need to be mindful of not over-exfoliating, but from what I'm seeing, the benefits far outweigh these minor inconveniences. If you're serious about skincare and want to achieve smoother, brighter and more youthful skin, the PMD Personal Microderm Classic is worth the investment.
