I follow a lot of health and wellness influencers on social media and one of the biggest trends many of them are talking about is magnesium spray. Magnesium is a mineral that’s known to help with stress reduction, sleep improvement, and pain relief. As a new mom, I’m finding myself struggling with all of those things and I was intrigued by how magnesium could help me feel better throughout the day and at night.
I decided to test out two of the most popular magnesium sprays and oils on Amazon. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like about each one.

Essentiallybased Pure Magnesium Oil Spray
I started out by trying a magnesium oil that’s 100% natural. Essentiallybased’s Magnesium Oil Spray is organic, odorless, and supposed to absorb easily. I wanted to try it out specifically for menstrual pain, stress, and lack of sleep.
Pros of the Essentiallybased Pure Magnesium Oil Spray
I used this magnesium spray once a day at night. I would apply 4-5 sprays to different areas of my body and massage it in until it was absorbed. I sprayed it on my stomach for the cramps. Magnesium oil is known to absorb better if applied to the feet or the back of your legs, so I sprayed it on those areas too. I noticed an instant cooling and soothing sensation after applying it. I liked that were wasn’t an odor to the oil and that I didn’t need to spray a lot on — a little went a long with with this product. It was relaxing to use and I noticed that the act of putting it on before bed helped me fall asleep faster.

Cons of the Essentiallybased Pure Magnesium Oil Spray
While it’s hard to say if it improved my menstrual cramps or helped my stress levels, I can say that the product was a bit too oily and sticky. Even after rubbing it in for 30 seconds, it felt heavy on my skin. It was hard to wash off in the morning and it left my sheets feeling dirty after using it for a week.
Beach Labs’ Magnesium Spray
The next magnesium oil I tried was formulated differently. Beach Lab’s Magnesium Spray is balanced with 40 trace minerals derived from the Pacific Ocean. I hoped that this one would feel differently on my skin and provide more immediate benefits.
Pros of the Beach Labs’ Magnesium Spray
I loved the consistency of this magnesium oil. It felt smooth and lightweight on my skin. I would put on around 2-3 sprays on my feet, legs, and stomach, and rub it in for a few seconds. After a week of using, I did feel more relaxed before bed and I noticed that when I applied to sore muscles it did provide some relief on those areas for the night.

Cons of the Beach Labs’ Magnesium Spray
While this magnesium oil applied nicely, it did leave a little bit of a white residue on my skin when I’d wake up in the morning. That was easy to scrub off in the shower. The pump on the bottle was also not so easy to use. I ended up removing it and just poured the liquid on my fingers to apply.
The Bottom Line: Beach Labs’ Magnesium Spray Was My Pick!
A lot of the health and wellness influencers I follow rave about the benefits of magnesium spray and claim it helps with a variety of issues they are experiencing. While I liked the nightly ritual of applying Beach Labs’ Magnesium Spray and didn’t mind the consistency, I’m not sure it provided long-lasting results just yet. If anything, it did help me fall asleep faster and made my evenings more zen like. I’ll continue to use Beach Labs' Magnesium Spray a few times a week as part of my nightly self-care routine.
