It’s not just the pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters and relief from the summer heat that has people enamored with autumn: It’s the colors. So many people are obsessed with fall foliage that it’s inspired a whole genre of travel referred to as leaf-peeping as well as meteorologist-designed color reports. Why not try to incorporate the natural splendor into your wedding day? From historic chapels to modern event spaces, here are 10 venues that light up in fall.

JuneBug Retro Resort

Asheville, North Carolina

Just 12-minutes north of downtown Asheville, JuneBug Retro Resort is like a fall paradise from the 1950s. The 50-acre property is tucked away in a private valley alongside a half-mile of river and old-growth trees that transform into a vivid patchwork of yellows and reds once the crisp fall air descends upon the Appalachian Range. The views are timeless, and the resort has been meticulously designed to transport guests back to the midcentury with a fleet of vintage campers that can house up to 30 guests. Able to accommodate weddings of up to 300 guests, this fun resort has everything you need, including a dancefloor, wedding arbor and a 1953 Ford F500 working farm truck that doubles as a stage for a band.

Big Cedar Lodge

Ridgedale, Missouri

Set right in the heart of Missouri’s Ozark Mountains with gorgeous panoramas of Table Rock Lake, this conservation-minded property is one of the premier wilderness resorts in all of the United States. The 1921 resort offers a ton of activities to keep guests busy while you and your betrothed prepare for the big day; and it boasts 10 different ceremony sites to choose from, including several church rooms such as the Garden Chapel (pictured above), which offers beautiful views of the neighboring hillside from its soaring windows. Soak in scarlet blackgums, amber hickories, purple sweetgums and blazing orange maples as you and your spouse-to-be transition from single to married life.

The Ridge Hotel

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

The forests surrounding Lake Geneva create a beautiful backdrop no matter the season. In summer and spring, it’s a blanket of green. During winter, it looks like a carpet of pure white. Fall, however, might just be the most impressive when the entire lakeshore turns into a patchworked quilt of blazing red, yellow and orange. That gorgeous scenery draws lots of Midwestern couples who want to celebrate their union in the midst of the region’s natural beauty. The more cosmopolitan-types say "I do" at The Ridge Hotel. The sleek resort is the most recently renovated property on the lake, combining modern design and cult craft beer with an expansive lawn and picturesque views.

Jackson Lake Lodge

Moran, Wyoming

No matter which way you look, the views from Jackson Lake Lodge’s Southwest Terrace are completely arresting. The snow-capped Tetons ascend straight up from the surrounding valley, offering a dramatic contrast between the silvery gneiss rock and rolling meadows. In fall, those gentle fields light ablaze as flittering aspens turn to gold, cottonwoods burnish a deep orange hue and Rocky Mountain Maples dot the landscape with pops of crimson and purple. Celebrate your union in the midst of autumn’s brilliant show before heading inside to warm up. The hotel offers a variety of packages ranging from small events to weddings with up to 250 guests.

Sun Valley Resort

Sun Valley, Idaho

When it was built in 1936, Sun Valley Resort was the first destination resort in the entire United States. One look and it’s easy to see why it became such a coveted landing place. It boasts sweeping views of the majestic Sawtooth Mountains, glacier-carved peaks that jut out from an ever-changing blanket of trees that morph from white to green to pops of yellows and reds in the fall. The recently renovated four-seasons resorts offer couples a variety of indoor and outdoor wedding venues all with a historic ski town feel and jaw-dropping views.

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark

Monticello, New York

The Catskills have recently become a hot summer getaway for trendy New Yorkers, but the area, which has some of the best fall colors on the planet, has always attracted leaf peepers from around the globe. One of its newest mountain-inspired wedding venues is The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark. The expansive property, which has tons of activities to keep guests occupied while you’re busy getting ready, offers couples numerous indoor and outdoor venues that highlight the expansive sea of autumn foliage. Like an adult-friendly summer camp, the resort keeps its outdoor fire pits roaring and fully stocked with s’mores for the wedding afterparty.

Fred W. Symmes Chapel

Greenville, South Carolina

Appropriately nicknamed "Pretty Place," this open-air sanctuary boasts some incredibly attractive views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 1941 shrine, one of the many buildings that make up YMCA’s Camp Greenville, was erected by Fred W. Symmes as the 1400-acre property’s spiritual center. Nature-lovers will be hard-pressed to find a holier place to tie-the-knot. No matter the time of year, the expansive panorama of jagged mountains carpeted with lush trees is absolutely divine.

Castle in the Clouds

Moultonborough, New Hampshire

This historic mansion boasts stunning panoramas of the Ossipee Mountain range. Come autumn, when the surrounding forest transforms into a vibrant salad of color, the views are so spectacular that your brain might feel like it’s going to explode. What better backdrop for a moving nuptial union is there? The Arts and Crafts-style venue can accommodate up to 200 guests for a fiery fall ceremony perched 2,000 feet above Lake Winnipesaukee. After, the party can move into The Winnipesaukee Room to get nice and toasty. The renovated country-chic reception room features hand-hewn wood-beamed ceilings and plenty of windows, so you can still admire the dramatic colors without needing a coat.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek, Colorado

Set right at the base of one of Colorado’s most prestigious ski resorts, decked out with twinkle lights, an ice-skating rink, daily cookie services and quaint alpine village feels, Beaver Creek is a veritable winter wonderland. It’s also gorgeous — and far less busy — in the fall. Abundant aspen groves pop with bursts of gold and yellow on the mountainside that completely encircle the village. Toronto’s newest and most up-to-date waterfront wedding venue, Guild Inn Estate, offers wonderful views of Lake Ontario from its 88-acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The historic property, which encompasses what was formerly known as Ranelagh Park, is particularly pretty in the fall when the trees turn from bright green into subdued reds, yellows and browns. The gorgeous estate offers couples a choice of multiple indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception sites for parties of all sizes, one of which boasts spectacular foliage views through floor-to-ceiling glass walls for up to 1,000 guests.
