Breweries with Charm
Have you ever heard the saying “champagne taste on a beer budget” and feel slightly offended by the idea of denigrating beer? That might mean you’re a beer geek: one of those intrepid sud-sippers who drinks ale in the shower, has a cross-country beer-trading buddy and plans out every vacation according to which breweries they want to hit. If any of the aforementioned attributes applies to you or your spouse-to-be—or you just like laid-back fun—you might want to consider a brewery wedding. Here are 10 worth checking out.
Funky Buddha Brewery
Oakland Park, Florida
South Floridians love to hang out and drink beer, and Funky Buddha Brewery is one of the top haunts in Broward County. From birthday parties and game days to just a regular old Saturday afternoon, this place is filled with locals looking to kick back and sip on its culinary brews. Its grand banquet hall, which can accommodate up to 150 guests, has an elegant yet cozy feel that screams rustic wedding. It’s full of natural materials, like reclaimed wood, vintage barn tin and staves from actual barrels of beer. Couples can organize beer education and brewery tours for guests, or those who want to sip their Maple Bacon Coffee Porter or Blueberry Cobbler Ale in peace can watch the bottling line from the hall’s panoramic windows.
Four Day Ray Brewing
Fishers, Indiana
Everyone loves a beer garden. The casual outdoor patio at Four Day Ray is one gorgeous example of what a contemporary version could—and should—be. The space is surrounded by lush landscaping, brick walls, horizontal wood fencing and herringbone-pattern gates that make one heck of a chic alter. There’s even covered seating and heaters in case the weather doesn’t fully cooperate. Up to 150 standing guests can celebrate you while sipping on a Blood Orange Blonde or Half-Cocked Session IPA.
Farmhouse by Breckenridge Brewery
Littleton, Colorado
The second and largest location of Breckenridge Brewery, the Littleton Campus, was built on 12-acres of what used to be a farm (hence the name). It features a 100-barrel brewhouse, barrel-aging room and the Farmhouse Restaurant. The food is great—folks love the elk burgers and one Yelp reviewer claims “The cast iron bread is the greatest thing you’ll ever eat”—but the vibe and views really set the place over the top. With an indoor-fireplace, beer garden, wraparound porch and Rocky Mountain views befitting a Coors commercial, this rustic-industrial venue is an ideal place to toast a Vanilla Porter or Hop Peak IPA as you and you betrothed celebrate your nuptial rites.
Hi-Wire Brewing
Asheville, North Carolina
A bridal dressing room may not be at the top of your wedding day priorities, but after taking a look at the super hip pre-ceremony space at Hi-Wire Brewing’s event space, it will be.
The subdued mid-century-inspired space was designed by West Elm. It’s the ideal setting to prep while sipping pints of Hi-Wire Lager and Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA with your girls or guys before your big day debut. The trendy design extends to the venue, a large, industrial feeling space that spills out into a beer garden near historic Biltmore Village. It’s so nice, no one would mind ordering an Uber to get there, but one of the best things about this brewery venue is that it’s within stumbling distance of many restaurants and hotels.
Revolution Brewing
Chicago, Illinois
Revolution Brewing may be best known for its intense barley wines and imperial stout in the beer world but, in the wedding world, it’s known far and wide as one of the best breweries to tie the knot. Their trusty event staff helps couples with every last detail for unions in its two private spaces. The Brewers’ Lounge, located on the second floor of its original brewpub, boasts an elegant atmosphere for up to 130 guests with exposed brick, hand-carved mahogany and, yes, even a couple of leather-bound books. Those looking for a straight-up beer production-feel gravitate toward the Kedzie Taproom, a sprawling space for guest counts of 150 to 250 people with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that overlooks barrel upon barrel of beer.
Monday Night Brewing
Atlanta, Georgia
Monday Night Brewing doesn’t actually brew beer in The Garage event space, but the industrial space offers up to 750—yes, you read that right—guests. There are plenty of opportunities to taste its range of balanced, flavorful Scotch Ales and IPAs brewed nearby with food to match. The wide-open floor plan offers couples the chance to customize the space, which includes an outdoor patio, however they wish. Plus, the private event packages include a Monday Night Brewing glass for every guest.
SLO Brew
San Luis Obispo, California
With two locations, SLO Brew offers brides and grooms the ability to pick-and-choose which brewery wedding vibe they’d love for the big day. The Carissa in downtown San Luis Obispo features a newly remodeled, light and airy atmosphere with soft teak couches and an outdoor deck with roaring fire pits. Just outside of town, The Rock Brewery & Taproom (pictured above) is one of the largest venues in the county—and its setting is peak California cool. The 30-barrel brewhouse and tasting room features a casual outdoor event space centered around “the rock” with desert-chic landscaping, laid-back seating and firepits to keep guests warm as the sun sets, you know, on your single life.
Brewery Ommegang
Cooperstown, New York
This esteemed brewery feels like it’s been plucked straight out of the Belgian countryside. The 140-acre farmstead property is set near the banks of the Susquehanna River, offering a unique pastoral European ambience paired with some of the best Belgian-style beers fermented in North America. Couples can host parties of 100 to 250-plus guests at rustic farmhouse tables under an elegant high peak tent. Fully customizable wedding packages can include a roaring bonfire in the hand-laid stone pit, fireworks display and dishes like braised beef with Hungarian goulash, buttermilk fried chicken bites and fondant potatoes matched with its award-winning beer.
Rising Tide Brewing Company
Portland, Maine
In the not-too-distant past the industrial neighborhood that’s now home to Rising Tide Brewing Company was better known for manufacturing and auto repair shops than for being an eating and drinking destination. That was until Rising Tide came along with its IPAs and American Wild Ales. Set in a building that once housed a bus terminal, dairy production and an autobody shop, this craft brewery helped turn walkable East Bayside into a hip haven for breweries, distilleries and third-wave coffee shops. Your friends will thank you for tying the knot in its lively East Room. This modern space highlights the area’s past with a rustic-industrial atmosphere that flows onto a fun outdoor patio.
Barrelhouse Brewing Co.
Paso Robles, California
Good people, good times and great beer: that’s the goal of Barrelhouse Brewing Co. Set in the midst of Paso Robles’ winery-filled Tin City, Barrel House Brewing Co. offers an intimate and laid-back venue to celebrate your union. Its newly constructed Barrel Facility, home to its clean and wild ale barrel-aged beer programs, can accommodate up to 60 guests. Filled with aging oak foeders and barrels, the private space feels like you’re hanging behind-the-scenes at a brewing facility. It even opens up to a secluded cobblestone patio with room for BBQs, live music and a California-style outdoor lounge.
