7 TikTok Wedding Tips
I’ve worked in the wedding industry for over seven years now and pride myself on knowing the best wedding tips, solutions to problems, and even DIY ways to save couples money.
However, I’m always eager to learn more and add to the running list of hacks that’ll help newly engaged couples through their wedding adventure without placing too much stress on their relationships or their wallets.
Recently, as I’ve been spending quality time on TikTok, I’ve come across some unique and essential tricks that can really benefit those in the wedding planning process. Here are my top 7 favorite TikTok wedding tricks!
Walk, Don’t Run
A moment of the wedding day lots of couples look forward to is their ceremony. Even though it’s filled with emotion and excitement, TikTok user Tia LaRue Photo says it’s so important that couples remember to walk and not run down the aisle.
"It sounds simple, but you are going to be full of nerves," Tia says. "When you’re walking down the aisle, take your time!"
Going to the Bathroom in a Wedding Dress
While it might seem like TMI to talk about going to the bathroom on your wedding day, it’s something not a lot of people prepare for ahead of time. TikTok user Abby Pierron says there’s a trick to making sure you can easily use the restroom without messing up your dress.
"If you can get your hands on an Ikea bag, or any large reusable bag will do," says Abby. "Cut a hole in the bottom, step into it to make sure the whole skirt of the dress is in it, and pull it up."
Number Your RSVP Cards
Getting guests to send back their RSVP cards can be a bit of a headache, but once the cards enter your mailbox, TikTok user Sydney Gibson has a trick that makes the whole process easier.
"I numbered the back of my RSVP cards in case anyone mailed back their RSVP card and forgot to put their name or if I had trouble deciphering their handwriting," says Gibson. "I didn’t want to write on them with an ink pen. I used an invisible pen so that you can’t see the ink without a black light."
Create a Separate Email Address
The more organized you are with your wedding planner, the smoother the process will be. TikTok user Abigail Rachel Smith says one particular trick saved her so much time during her wedding adventure.
"A huge part of wedding planning is basically emailing one million people (venues, florists, DJs, etc.)," says Smith. "Having it all in a wedding email versus a personal email will save you stress and anxiety of trying to find contacts and emails. Keep it all in one separate email that you and your fiance have access to."
DIY Centerpieces
If you’re looking for a way to cut costs for your wedding, turning to DIY projects for decorations is a great place to start. TikTok User Daisy Michellee showcased how she created centerpiece bases for her wedding reception by only spending a total of $30.
She glued glass bowls to glass stands and created the perfect base for a floral arrangement. Rather than renting these centerpiece stands from a vendor (for $25-$100 each), you can DIY them on your own.
Save the Last Dance
When the reception comes to an end, the fact that your wedding is officially over may feel bittersweet. TikTok user Weddings By Tracy has a simple and memorable way to close out the night.
Tracy recommends doing one final dance with your partner as your guests exit the venue. You can make this a private moment or invite your guests to surround the dance floor. Either way, it’s a memorable way to end the night.
Extend Your First Kiss
While you and your partner might be eager to hear the officiant say the final words of the ceremony, "you may now kiss...", but when that moment comes, TikTok user Gem and Joyia Wedding Planning recommends extending the moment a little longer.
"It feels like you’re kissing forever but actually it goes by fast," she says. "That’s not long enough for your photo to get a picture so make [the first kiss] longer than it needs to be."
