In my house, it doesn't take long for the laundry to pile up. I've got three kids and loads of smelly dance clothes, muddy running gear, and dinosaur t-shirts that had a little too much fun at preschool. The laundry struggle is real in this house.
While my laundry piles never seem to go down, I'm always looking for a way to make my laundry routine simpler, but also more eco-friendly.
I decided to ditch the big bottles of liquid detergent and switch Dropps Laundry Detergent Pods. These tiny pods promise to be compatible with all types of washers, tackle even the most stubborn stains and persistent odor, and be thoughtfully formulated for the planet.
But how did it hold up to the loads of laundry my family created? Let's dive into my experience with these little pods of magic!
How It Works
Dropps pods are designed to be an all-in-one solution for your laundry woes. You just pop a pod (or two for a larger load) into your washing machine, throw in your clothes, and start the machine. No measuring, no mess. They dissolve completely in water, releasing powerful cleaning agents that tackle stains, odors, and dirt.
What's cool is that these pods are plant-based and free from harsh chemicals, making them safe for sensitive skin and the environment. They're also packaged in compostable, recyclable cardboard, so you can feel good about reducing plastic waste.
No more giant plastic bottles full of water taking up too much space in your laundry room and then in a landfill? I'm a fan already.

First Impressions
When I first received my Dropps pods, the packaging was great. No bulky plastic jugs — just a neat, eco-friendly box that fits easily in my laundry room. The pods themselves are small, squishy and surprisingly fun to handle. Since I've got a five-year-old in my house, I made sure the pods were stored on a high shelf.
I decided to test the Odor + Stain pods on my older kids' smelly dance and running clothes. If the pods could tackle those, they could handle anything. For my younger son, who has sensitive skin, I used the Free & Clear pods.
Results
I started with the Odor + Stain pods. I tossed in a pod with my daughter's sweaty dance leotards and my son's mud-caked running shorts. After a single wash, I was pleasantly surprised. The clothes came out fresh and clean, with no lingering odors or stubborn stains. Even the dreaded armpit smell was gone!
Next, I used the Free + Clear pods for my younger son's clothes, which included his favorite, often spilled-on t-shirts. His clothes came out looking and smelling great, and best of all, there were no signs of skin irritation. His sensitive skin was happy and so was I.

Pros
- Eco-Friendly: The pods are plant-based and packaged in compostable materials. No more guilt about plastic waste!
- Effective Cleaning: Both the Odor + Stain and Free & Clear pods worked wonders on our clothes, tackling tough stains and odors without harsh chemicals.
- Convenience: The pre-measured pods save time and eliminate the mess of liquid detergents. Just pop in and go!
- Sensitive-Skin Friendly: The Free & Clear pods were gentle on my younger son's skin, which is a huge plus for parents with sensitive kiddos.
- Compact Packaging: The small box takes up less space in the laundry room, making it easier to store.
Cons
- Availability: They're mainly available online, so you need to plan ahead and order before you run out. No last-minute dashes to the store.
- Dissolving Issues: Occasionally, I noticed a pod didn't dissolve completely in a cold wash. This was rare, but it's something to keep in mind if you often use cold water.

Bottom Line
Dropps Laundry Detergent Pods are a game changer for busy parents and eco-conscious consumers. They make laundry day easier, more effective, and kinder to the planet.
While they may be a bit more expensive and occasionally have minor dissolving issues, the benefits far outweigh these small drawbacks.
If you're tired of wrestling with messy liquid detergents and want a more sustainable option, give Dropps a try. Your laundry room — and the planet — will thank you!
