If you have a cat or a dog (or maybe both), you know the never-ending battle against pet hair. From your clothes to your bedding, your furry friend leaves their mark — or more accurately, their hair everywhere.
While I love my dog Daisy Ray, I don't love that her hair invades every inch of the house. I'm always looking for products that will make reducing the pet hair in our home a little easier.
Enter the FurZapper — a pet hair remover that promises to rescue your clothes from the clutches of fur without extra effort. Just toss them into the washer and dryer and magically–the pet hair is gone. Sounds like a dream, right? But does it live up to the hype? Come with me to do a few loads of laundry to find out.
What Is the FurZapper?
In the simplest terms, the FurZapper is a soft, squishy disc designed to remove pet hair from your clothes while they're in the washer and dryer. The pack I got came with two: one yellow and one green, and they're shaped like a paw print (adorable!).

The FurZapper works by gently lifting fur, hair and lint off fabrics, so when you throw it in the washer and dryer, the loose fur stays in the lint vents of your dryer while everything spins around.
The product is marketed as reusable, hypoallergenic, and free of any harmful chemicals, so it's safe to use with all types of laundry. According to the creators, you can leave it in your washer and dryer for multiple loads without worrying about wear and tear.

Here's the part we all care about: does the FurZapper actually zap the fur away? The short answer is yes, but with some caveats.
I've got a dog who sheds like it's her full-time job and after running a few loads with the FurZapper, I noticed a definite improvement in the amount of hair clinging to my clothes. It didn't capture every last hair, but I'd say about 70-80% of the fur was gone, which is a solid win.

Where the FurZapper really shined was with blankets and towels. These items, notorious for collecting fur, came out significantly cleaner than before. However, for clothes with finer, clingier fabrics, it wasn't as effective.
If you have a lot of clothes made of stretchy or thin materials, like leggings, the FurZapper might not completely solve your pet hair problems. But for your everyday cotton shirts, jeans, and other sturdy fabrics, it's a great little helper!
Also, I'm notorious for overloading the washer and dryer and I noticed during those loads, less hair was removed. Learn from my mistakes and just turn that giant load into two regular sized ones.
Pros
- Easy to Use: Just throw it in the washer or dryer and let it do its thing. No extra steps, no fuss.
- Eco-Friendly: No more throwing away dozens of lint roller sheets. The FurZapper is reusable for dozens of loads, making it a more sustainable choice for pet owners.
- Great for Larger Items: Blankets, towels and larger fabric items benefited the most from the FurZapper, coming out significantly less furry after a run through the wash.
- Hypoallergenic: For pet owners with sensitive skin, it's nice to know that the FurZapper is free from chemicals and safe for all fabrics.

Cons
- Some Hair Will Remain: While it removes a lot of fur, it doesn't catch every single strand. You might still find yourself needing a quick swipe with a lint roller afterward for more stubborn fabrics.
- Works Best When Used in Both Washer and Dryer: To get the best results, you have to toss it in for both cycles. If you only use it in the washer or dryer, you won't see the same level of fur removal.
Bottom Line
If you're looking for an eco-friendly and affordable way to reduce the amount of pet hair in your laundry, the FurZapper is a solid choice. While it won't banish every bit of pet hair from your laundry, it's definitely a handy tool for any pet owner tired of dealing with fur-covered clothes.
It's especially great for larger items like blankets and towels. Since it's so easy to use and doesn't contain harsh chemicals, it's worth adding into your laundry routine.
