Chantel's 90 Day Fiance Story
We first met Chantel on the fourth season of 90 Day Fiance. She worked as a cheerleading coach in Atlanta, Georgia while she pursued her bachelor's degree in nursing. Then, she found love when she least expected it.
Chantel was interested in learning Spanish and a friend connected her with a man named Pedro, who lived in the Dominican Republic. They felt instant attraction for one another and soon enough, Chantel was on a flight to visit Pedro. On her third visit, Pedro proposed and they made plans for Pedro to move to the states! Although Chantel was excited, she decided to keep the engagement a secret from her parents, Karen and Thomas, until they got to know Pedro better.
Chantel picked up Pedro from the airport and took him to their brand-new apartment. Both of them lived with their families before moving in together, so it was a huge step.
Chantel loved to party! So, she and Pedro went to a club during their Florida vacation. She had a bit too much to drink and Pedro was livid. She didn't understand why Pedro was down to party when they first met, but looked down upon it (and her behavior) now.
During the very last week of the 90 day process, Chantel finally revealed her engagement to her family. They were shocked and confused by the news and wished Chantel had mentioned it sooner.
After a stressful week, Chantel's wedding day arrived! She didn't expect her family to show up to the ceremony, but she was overjoyed when they did. However, they held up the nuptials a bit so they could take a peek at Chantel's prenup first...just to make sure everything was "in order."
With her family by her side, Chantel had her special moment and became a married woman!
Next, Chantel appeared on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After Season 2. Not long after tying the knot, she and Pedro decided to have a second wedding in the Dominican Republic. Chantel got all dressed up and her friends planned a special bachelorette party for her!
Chantel and her family arrived in the Dominican Republic and went to Pedro's family home for a meal. His mom, Lidia, cooked up chicken feet and Chantel's family took offense, viewing it as a malicious gesture. This only built up the tension in the air. After a heated interaction, Chantel's family left and she had to pick up the pieces with Lidia and Pedro's sister, Nicole.
With miscommunications getting out of hand and the friction between the families getting worse every day, Chantel sat down with Lidia and Nicole to have a chat. She was upset that Pedro was sending Lidia and Nicole gifts and rent money since they could put that money to good use as a newlywed couple.
She tried to get Lidia to see her perspective, but the conversation took a turn. Chantel thought she heard Nicole call her a derogatory name, so she stood up and stormed off. As she walked away, she called Nicole some harsh names as well.
Chantel's attempt to mend the families' relationship absolutely failed — and now, she was livid too.
Despite the blowout fight right before the wedding, Chantel's special day was beautiful. Her parents brought Pedro's grandmother flowers as a gesture of honor and peace and the fire between the two families was extinguished. Chantel looked gorgeous and so happy!
On the third season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After, Chantel's family voiced their concerns about her marriage. They suspected that Pedro's family ran a marriage ring to set people up with Americans for a chance to "harvest the American dollar." So, Chantel and her family met with a private investigator.
Nicole came to America to visit Chantel and Pedro. One evening, they attended a dinner with Chantel's family that ended in complete chaos. Nicole and Chantel weren't getting along and you could cut the tension with a knife. When Karen confronted Nicole about her behavior towards Chantel, the conversation flipped and Pedro and River got hostile with each other.
Then, they both stood up at the dinner table and had an all-out brawl. There was swinging, scratching, and screaming, but the family finally broke it up. Chantel was devastated.
On Season 2 of The Family Chantel, older brother, Royal, and his wife, Angenette, entered the picture. Chantel wanted to welcome Angenette to the family and planned a girls' night to get to know her. Chantel always loved a night out, but she was shocked when Royal came to the club to check on Angenette, ultimately taking her home.
In the back of her mind, Chantel was concerned that Angenette had bad intentions and was looking to build a life in the states — whether it was with Royal or another American.
Chantel's family gathered to take a family portrait for the holidays. Things turned sour when Chantel brought up Winter's relationship (which she did NOT approve of). Winter was tired of the criticism and felt that Chantel was being too judgemental. On top of that, Winter felt that Chantel wasn't genuinely supportive of her weight loss journey and upcoming surgery.
The sisters hit a rough patch and just couldn't see eye to eye. Luckily, they were able to have an honest conversation and worked through it, coming out the other side stronger than ever.
The fourth season of The Family Chantel brought Chantel, Karen, and Winter to Mexico. Winter underwent weight loss surgery and her mom and sister were there to care for her. While she was away from home, Chantel noticed that her relationship with Pedro was changing.
He was working in real estate six days a week, hanging out with his co-workers most of the time, and didn't seem as present. There were cracks in the foundation, but Chantel decided to keep her troubles a secret from her family.
Chantel wanted to work on her marriage. She decided to clean up around the house and cook Pedro breakfast. However, she didn't cook his eggs the way he liked and didn't receive any recognition for trying. She and Pedro argued over their roles in the relationship and Chantel left the conversation in tears.
With tension and animosity filling their home, Chantel and Pedro finally confronted their issues head on. Chantel told Pedro about her suspicions involving his co-workers and Pedro denied everything. She wanted him to admit that he no longer loved her, but he refused.
Chantel believed that Pedro was hiding something and that their petty arguments around the house were just a sign of something deeper.
Chantel met up with Pedro and his co-workers at a bar. She took the opportunity to ask about all of the things that made her uncomfortable and suspicious. Then, Chantel and Pedro began arguing and the co-workers slowly crept away from the scene.
When the couple returned home, Pedro proposed moving out.
Chantel's marriage was on the rocks and she was willing to do anything to save it. So, she flew to the Dominican Republic and showed up at Lidia's doorstep! These two didn't have the best history, but by the end of the conversation, Lidia told Chantel that she wanted her and Pedro to stay together. It meant more to Chantel than she'd ever know.
Unfortunately, Chantel's attempt at repairing her relationship backfired. Pedro was upset that Chantel went to see Lidia without telling him. He flew to the Dominican Republic and they got into it.
Back at home, Pedro found a new place and took money from their joint account. Then, Chantel emptied the account. The separation was ugly and they fought about money, who owned what, and who was at fault.
Chantel took her things and Pedro filed for divorce. Chantel was crushed but knew she'd have to be strong in order to move forward.
Next, Chantel appeared on Season 5 of The Family Chantel. With her divorce finalized, Chantel met with a realtor to sell her home. She and Pedro hadn't seen each other for nine months and the encounter couldn't have been any more awkward.
With everything going on, Chantel needed something to boost her confidence. So, she took a pole dancing class with Karen and Winter. All of the ladies had a great time and Chantel appreciated how the experience made her feel about herself.
Chantel didn't feel ready to jump back into the dating scene yet, but she agreed to go on a blind date with a man in New York City. She was excited, but quickly realized that her date reminded her too much of Pedro. There was no second date.
Obed, a former family friend of Pedro's, sat down with Chantel to chat. He confirmed a lot of Chantel's suspicions, from Pedro not writing his own marriage proposal to him having a secret past with Nicole's friend, Coraima. Chantel was trying to move on, but hearing all of this hurt her deeply.
Chantel went to the Dominican Republic to meet up with Pedro one final time. She brought River for support and Pedro brought Lidia and Nicole. Chantel got everything off her chest, but Pedro denied all of her allegations, doubling down that their marriage was for love and that he never cheated on her. Chantel broke down and realized she wasn't going to get closure from this conversation.
Next, Chantel appeared on 90 Day: The Single Life Season 4. She traveled to Greece with some friends to celebrate her singlehood and begin her next chapter. She was loving the Greek men and thrived on all of the opportunities and adventures surrounding her.
Chantel met a soccer player named Giannis and they instantly connected. Chantel felt open and wanted to see where things would go. She gave Giannis her number and he asked her to come visit his hometown four hours away.
Stay tuned to see what's next for Chantel!
