We first met Kalani and Asuelu on 90 Day Fiance Season 6. Their story began when Kalani took a vacation to Samoa in 2017. Asuelu was working at the resort where Kalani was staying and when they met each other, they absolutely hit it off.

Kalani got pregnant during the trip and gave birth to the couple's first son, Oliver, in 2018. They decided to raise their child in America and Asuelu came to Utah on a K-1 Visa.

Asuelu got to know Kalani's mother, Lisa. Her parents voiced some concerns about the relationship in the beginning. Although Kalani and Asuelu were still getting to know each other, there were many questions about both of their intentions and maturity levels.

Despite some family drama, the couple had some big news: Baby #2 was on the way!

Kalani's sister, Kolini, visited and got to know Asuelu. She, like her parents, had some warming up to do.

The bride-to-be went wedding dress shopping for her upcoming nuptials.

Kalani took little Oliver with her and spent some time with Kolini at a cafe.

Kalani celebrated her bachelorette party with her friends!

During the bachelorette party, Kalani took Kolini aside and revealed that she was pregnant.

Things weren't perfect for the couple, but they let love lead the way. They also hoped they would gain family support as the wedding approached.

Luckily, everyone put their troubles aside for the big day. Kalani looked gorgeous as she walked in with her parents.

Kalani and Asuelu were married by the ship's captain. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

As the couple's marriage progressed, they appeared on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 5. The show followed Kalani and Asuelu after they welcomed their second son, Kennedy, into the family in 2019. Here, the proud parents took him to get his first haircut.

They gathered the entire family together and enjoyed a day out at the bowling alley.

Asuelu gave customary welcome gifts to his family during a visit. Soon, gifts and money would become major sore spots for him and Kalani.

Kalani decided to meet up with Asuelu's sister, Tammy, and mother, Lesina, alone. Tammy argued with Kalani about money on the waterfront and Lesina said she wanted Asuelu to come home to Samoa. The discussion became very heated and only created more tension.

These two had a hard time seeing eye to eye when it came to their roles and duties in the relationship. Then, the pandemic only heightened the situation. Although they were battling these issues, the couple agreed to go to therapy and work on their marriage together.

However, the couple hit several roadblocks at the beginning of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 6. Kalani explained her doubts to Kolini when they went furniture shopping.

Kalani visited an attorney to discuss how a potential divorce could impact Asuelu’s immigration status. Asuelu wasn't aware of the appointment.

The couple took their sons, Oliver and Kennedy, mini-golfing. They wanted to focus on spending more time together.

They visited an adult store, looking to spice up their marriage. The shopping trip was full of laughter!

Things were improving between the two, but Kalani had to come clean about something very important: her conversation with the attorney about a potential divorce. When Asuelu found out, he was deeply upset and needed a few mintues to himself.

Luckily, they talked it out and agreed on fighting for their marriage and family.

The couple went shopping for a new car together. It would be Asuelu's first car purchase and Kalani was super excited for him. Then, Asuelu told the salesman that he wanted a third child — which was a big surprise to Kalani. Asuelu voiced that he wanted a huge family (since he grew up with nine siblings), but Kalani wanted to build a more stable life with their two sons.

Lesina and Tammy came over to celebrate Christmas with the whole family. Unfortunately, the topic of sending money to Lesina popped up and their happy holiday dinner quickly took a turn for the worse. Then, Asuelu's white elephant gift exchange saved the day! He picked out hilarious gifts like fart spray, toilet paper, and a fake lottery ticket to cut the tension.

But the jolly mood didn't last long. Kalani was upset by a baby blanket that Asuelu gifted her and she voiced that wasn't ready for another child. Lesina, Tammy, and Kolini chimed in and their conversation turned into a heated argument. Once Asuelu saw Tammy and Kolini stand up, he escorted his mom and sister out of the family home before things got out of hand.

After the Christmas fiasco, Asuelu felt overwhelmed and tired. The issues with his family were trickling into his relationship with Kalani, and the stress of looking for a new home on a limited budget wasn't helping the situation.

The couple's future plans were uncertain. Asuelu proposed they move their family to his village in Samoa, but Kalani didn't want to uproot the life they were already building in America.
