Amy Schumer Welcomed Her Own “Royal Baby”
Congrats to the new parents!
Baby Sussex wasn’t the only new babe making headlines this week. Comedian Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer welcomed their first child: a boy the couple named Gene Attell Fischer.
Throughout her pregnancy, 37-year-old Schumer joked that being pregnant at the same time as her “nemesis,” Duchess Meghan Markle, had not been fun. Schumer made her pregnancy announcement just days after Buckingham Palace released its own. She often made remarks on social media and during interviews about how amazing the Duchess looked during her travels and poked fun at herself for constantly feeling nauseous or looking miserable.
So it was quite fitting that Schumer captioned the first photo of her newborn on Instagram with: “10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born.”
Before heading to the hospital, Schumer teased fans by posting hilarious pictures of herself posing in leggings and a sweater on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art just hours before the Met Gala took place.
"Met look this year,” she wrote. “Last night on the way to the hospital."
The funny lady has been very open about having a difficult pregnancy. She suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a persistent morning sickness that can be dangerous for pregnant women because of the possibility that it can lead to dehydration and weight loss. Schumer was hospitalized several times and even forced to cancel several of her stand-up shows.
Now, with the nasty side effects of pregnancy behind her, Schumer can enjoy Gene’s sweet baby bliss. Motherhood will surely give this funny lady lots to talk about in her future comedy shows. And, who knows? Maybe Schumer can put her “differences” aside with the Duchess, and little Gene and Archie can have a few playdates together.
