Anne Hathaway Shared Why She’s Not Drinking Until Her Son is 18
No wine for this mom.

If you do a quick scroll through Facebook, you are bound to see a few memes about moms loving wine or needing a drink to relax at the end of a hard day. However, Anne Hathaway is taking a stance and saying no to wine — and all other alcohol – until her son is 18 and no longer living with her. Her reasoning behind why she is passing on booze for the next 17 years has a lot of moms talking.
Hathaway recently revealed that her new take on sobriety has less to do with how often she was drinking and more so with how long it was taking her to recover.
"The time I have with (Jonathan) is really precious,” the actress said in an interview. “I do leave a lot for work and I found my time with [him] was getting impacted, not necessary by the drinking, as I never went out of control around him. But I hate to say it – as you get older, the hangovers get really bad.”
Girl, we get it! Hangovers are no fun, and the ones that have you feeling bad for days? Not worth it.
The 36-year-old said she isn’t passing on cocktails forever though. She fully plans on enjoying alcohol in the future but, for right now, this is the right choice for her.
Hathaway added that her personal ban was not a “moralistic” choice and that she is not passing judgement on any mother who chooses to drink.
We love when a mom makes a choice that works best for her and her family. So, while Hathaway is passing on the vino for now, the Oscar winner joked that, "[I'm going to] move to a vineyard and spend the back half of my life completely sloshed, happy and sun-drenched. That's the plan!”
