But before uploading a photo to social media or putting your loved ones on a group text, take some time to think about if there are any creative and unique ways you want to share the news, so it can feel extra special.

Create a video

Eyeball your camera roll and computer to find any fun video clips of you and your partner over the years. Stitch them together using a video software editing tool, whether iMovie or CapCut (a free app for your phone), to make a montage reel of your relationship and end it with the news of your engagement.

Send it in the mail

Everyone loves a surprise, so if you want to delay the news by a few days, one great idea is to create engagement announcement cards and send them to your loved ones in the mail. Another way to pull this off is by asking a movie theater or concert venue if you can rent space on their marquee and having them write the news there for everyone to see.

If you want to turn the news of your engagement into a fun and silly game, create an online quiz that asks questions about you and your partner (ex: How did we meet? What did we do for our first date?) and at the end, when the results are revealed, you can share a photo and the news that you’re engaged.

You can send this quiz through email or text message so that your loved ones can play along and find out about your engagement.
