A Fashion Magazine’s ‘Wine And Egg’ Diet from the 1970s Has The Internet Shaking Their Heads
Can you believe this as an actual thing!?
If you are looking to change up your eating habits and find a diet that will help you drop a few pounds, we have a diet that the internet agrees you should NOT try—really just give this one a hard pass. In 1977 Vogue magazine released it’s “Wine and Eggs Diet” and the title basically says it all—you can consume wine, eggs, and not much else. So while you’ll be pretty tipsy, we don’t think you’ll lose weight or feel good in the morning.
This crazy “Wine and Eggs Diet” was unearthed by one Twitter user who considered trying the diet just for a little entertainment, but had enough sense to skip this fad diet after realizing she would just be grumpy and hungry all day.
So what exactly is in this diet? Let’s start with breakfast:
- 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 glass of white wine, and one cup of black coffee
What about lunch?
- 2 eggs hard-boiled but poached will work too, 2 glasses of white wine, and a cup of black coffee
Is this where we all take a nap because after three glasses of wine and just a few eggs, we will all need to take a nap.
Finally, for dinner—more of the same:
- 5 ounce steak, finish off whatever is left of your bottle of wine, and again coffee
The responses to the “Wine and Egg Diet” have been hilarious and quiet epic. So while we can’t imagine this diet will help us look and feel great, if nothing else, it did give us the LOLS.
