Virtual events aren’t just for older kids. Even preschoolers can jump on the tablet, phone or computer for more than just an episode of Daniel Tiger (though we do love us some Daniel!). Here are great ways to keep your preschoolers engaged and entertained while you practice social distancing.

Check out Mikey the Rad Scientist

Mikey the Rad Scientist is taking to Facebook Live to share his fun music and science shows. Have your kids learn a bit about different topics like water and rocks, and also jam out to live music. He posts upcoming events on his website, which take place a few times a week.

Do Activities with Your Favorite Characters from Storybook Entertainment

This company out of Arizona is usually in the business of sending your favorite princesses and characters to birthday parties but, while we are at home, they are taking their characters to the internet with events like Spider-hero yoga and exercise, dancing with the Little Mermaid, BatHero super training and sing-alongs with Elsa and Anna. The events benefit various local charities.

Hear Storytime from Space

How cool is this? Actual astronauts live in space are here to read your kids stories while in orbit. There are plenty of space-themed books and new ones being added all the time.

Go on a Home Safari

The Cincinnati Zoo hosts a live show every day on Facebook at 3 p.m. EST, where they highlight one of their animals and give kids a fun related project to do at home. It’s a fun home safari! Don’t worry if you can’t catch it live; they put all of the videos on YouTube afterward.

Teach Your Monster to Read

If you’re stuck at home with a preschooler, you may as well teach them the fundamentals of reading. This game does just that, and it is free right now. Create a monster and you’ll soon find your kids learning letter sounds and reading words.

Listen to Josh Gad AKA Olaf for Storytime

Actor Josh Gad, better known to your kids as Olaf, is taking to Instagram and Twitter to read aloud a children’s book each night. It’s such a refreshing and cute way to do story time as a family.

Say “Om” with Kid Yoga

Get your kids to move their bodies with some flow via Movement Junkies and Cosmic Kids, both of which are geared toward the smaller set. Movement junkies is more of a traditional kid yoga class while Cosmic Kids takes you through themed stories that feature different animals, superheroes and storybook characters.

Watch the Butterflies

The Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan has set up a live feed of its butterflies. Have your kids watch for a while and draw a photo of what they see. It’s actually very relaxing for parents as well.

Jam Out with Justin Roberts

Popular kindie artist Justin Roberts is taking his kid’s concerts virtual. Every day at 10:30 a.m. CT (except on Thursdays) he’ll go on Facebook live to jam out. He’s also launched a fun stuck at home page where kids can make instruments, their own concert poster and tickets.

15-Minute Magic Shows

Mondays are the new magic, at least that's the case with magician Randy Bernstein. Every Monday for the next six weeks he will do a 15-minute magic show complete with magic tricks, magic lessons and a whole lot of laughs!
