I Am Jazz Has Been Nominated for a GLAAD Award!
Congrats to Jazz, the Jennings family and the I Am Jazz crew!
We are excited to announce that I Am Jazz has been nominated for a GLAAD Media Award in the Outstanding Kids & Family Programming category. The award strives to “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives.”
The show centers around the life of Jazz Jennings, a transgender teen who navigates through life as someone who has identified as a female since kindergarten. Last season highlighted the emotional journey through her gender confirmation surgery and gave many a glimpse into the transgender community.
I Am Jazz previously won in this category at the 27th annual GLAAD Media Awards, tying with I Am Cait. This nomination marks their third.
“I encourage everyone to believe in yourself because nothing can stop you from being the person you want to be,” Jennings wrote in an Instagram post. “Do what you can, when you can, with what you have. I love you all.”
Catch up with Jazz on TLC when the show returns on January 28.
