Wedding Gifts That Last
After getting engaged, one of the best parts of wedding planning is putting together your wedding registry. While you might fill your gift list with items you desperately need for your home, you might add on some fun things that you and your partner hope you get at your celebration.
Believe it or not, some of the best wedding gifts that a couple gets are things that might be surprising to others. Let’s take a look at what these real couples said was the top gift they got at their wedding that they not only use but can’t live without.
Food Slicer
Kitchen gadgets and appliances are always high up on people’s wedding gift lists. For Eva Keller, one of those food tools is something she adores every day.
"My husband and I asked for a food slicer that came with multiple attachments to dice food in different sizes," says Keller. "It's really the only gadget-y type thing we asked for and I use it to slice all of the veggies that I cook with. It's a real time-saver, it's less messy than getting juices all over a cutting board, and every slice is uniform."
Golf Cart Tires
Some couples use their registry to ask for specific and helpful gifts. Amber and Mike Lee put something practical on their list that supports her daily transportation.
"We got new tires for our golf cart. We recently moved from Richmond, Virginia to Humacao, Puerto Rico and our golf cart is our main form of transportation. We were so excited to receive new golf cart tires as a wedding gift," says Mike Lee.
An Express Espresso Machine
If a gift can help you save money, it provides tremendous ongoing value to a couple. Abigail Swift felt that way about the express espresso machine she received.
"We make the most incredible coffee, lattes and espresso, and we no longer are even tempted to buy specialty coffee drinks at restaurants or coffee shops," says Swift. "In fact, we are currently on our honeymoon and brought our espresso machine with us. You can’t put a price tag on a flawless hand expressed coffee."
An Electric Kettle
For Becca Siegel, one gift she received, an electric hot water kettle, helped make her life easier in a way she never knew she needed.
"We can't live without our electric hot water kettle because we make coffee together every morning and I drink about 12 cups of tea a day," says Siegel. "Before this gift, we were using a kettle on the stove, and this one is so sleek!"
Good Pots and Pans
Some of the most classic wedding registry gifts are the ones that come in handy. Michelle Platt is forever grateful that someone got her a good set of pots and pans.
"They're expensive to buy on your own," says Platt.
