Dry Farm Wines
Founded by Todd White in 2015, Dry Farm Wines has created the most stringent wine certification in the world for their products. After speaking with Todd, I learned that "while there is no official or industry for natural wine, there are generally agreed upon principles: Natural Wine is wine made from organically or biodynamically grown grapes and fermented with wild native yeast, with as little intervention as possible. This means no industrial processing like filtration or man made additives." Dry Farm Wines does not have their own label but instead tastes and curates wine from growers who use organic, regenerative, and dry farming practices and no pesticides or herbicides. Todd notes that, "Every wine in their portfolio is fermented fully completely dry (native yeasts have converted all of the sugar in the grape juice into alcohol) with less than 1 gram of sugar per liter. With the national average nearing 14%, none of our wines are over 12.5% abv."
Avaline
Yup, you heard right, this celebrity co-founded wine is a clean wine brand. Cameron Diaz’s Avaline, puts their full ingredient list on every bottle including calorie, carbohydrate, fat, protein, and sugar facts. All of their wines have under 1g of sugar per serving. Their portfolio of wines are free from additives, synthetic chemicals, and excessive sugar, calories, and sulfur. They are also certified gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, and made with 100% organic grapes (meaning there are no pesticides used in the production of the wine). Check out the light and refreshing rose made with grenache, cinsault, caladoc and syrah. Or the medium bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, which has 0 grams of sugar, but is still chock-full of classic berry flavor.
Kind of Wild
Kind of Wild was launched by wine veterans Jordan & Adam Sager to create a brand with grapes grown on certified organic vineyards and made without animal products. They later met and collaborated with now co-founder and celebrity Chef Katie Lee Biegel. They work with smaller growers to craft low sulfur and low sugar wines. All wines have some amounts of sulfur that come in naturally on the grape skins and are a byproduct of fermentation. Their website features a chart showing sugar, ABV, and calorie content for all current wines and most are around 100 calories and between .08 and .18 grams of sugar per glass.
