I'm always on the hunt for something to keep everyone in my house moving and grooving. Finding an activity that gets us all off the couch, off our devices, and having fun together is a win. Enter Boxbollen — a quirky little gadget that's part game, part workout, and 100% entertaining.

Curious how it stacks up? Read on to see how Boxbollen became our new favorite family competition!

What Is Boxbollen?

Essentially, Boxbollen is a headband with an attached bouncy ball that challenges you to improve your reflexes, coordination and overall fitness. The idea is simple: strap on the headband and start boxing to see how long you can keep it going. It's a blend of workout and game that promises to get your heart pumping while having a blast.

There's even an app where you can track your hits and challenge yourself and others as you work out. The strap and the string that is attached to the ball are fully adjustable so anyone can try it out. From young kids to adults, everyone can join in on the fun.

First Impressions

When Boxbollen first arrived, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. Could a headband with a bouncing ball really be that entertaining? My kids were the first to dive in, strapping on the headbands and punching away.

Watching them, it was clear that this was more than just a gimmick – it was a genuinely fun activity that got them moving.

My husband and I couldn't resist joining in. It was harder than it looked! We quickly realized that this wasn't a toy, but rather a sneaky little workout that had our arms and core engaged in minutes. We turned it into a family competition, each trying to out-bounce the other and before we knew it, we were all hooked.

Who Is Boxbollen a Good Fit For?

Boxbollen is a great option for kids who need to burn off some energy, adults who want a quick workout, and anyone looking to improve their hand-eye coordination. It's a great fit for families, fitness enthusiasts, or anyone who loves a good challenge.

Our kids and their friends couldn't get enough of it and they enjoyed trying to set new records. For my husband and I, it became a fun addition to our evening routine — a way to have some fun with the kids while getting in some exercise too.

Pros

  • Fun Workout: Boxbollen turns exercise into a game. It's easy to get caught up in the fun and forget that you're working out.
  • Family-Friendly: It's an activity that people of all ages can enjoy. Whether you're 5 or 75, there's fun to be had for everyone.
  • Competitive Edge: The competitive aspect makes it more engaging. Trying to beat your own or others' scores adds an extra layer of motivation.
  • Portability: Boxbollen is small and easy to carry around. You can take it to the park, on vacation, or just move it from room to room.
  • Skill Development: It helps improve reflexes, coordination and timing, making it a great tool for developing these skills in kids.

Cons

  • Learning Curve: There's a bit of a learning curve, especially for younger kids or those who are not as coordinated. It can be frustrating at first.
  • Space Requirement: You need a bit of space to use it safely without knocking over lamps or hitting the TV. Clear the area before you start.
  • Monotony Risk: While it's fun, it can get repetitive after a while. Mixing it up with other activities might be necessary to keep it interesting.

Bottom Line

Boxbollen is a great addition to any household looking for a fun way to stay active. It's simple, engaging and brings out a competitive spirit in everyone who tries it. My family has had a blast, and it's been great seeing the kids and their friends excited to try it out.

While it has a bit of a learning curve and requires some space, the benefits far outweigh these minor drawbacks.

Whether you're looking for a new workout routine, a fun family activity, or just something to keep the kids entertained, Boxbollen is worth a try. So, strap on that headband, get the ball bouncing and let the fun — and fitness — begin!
