This Bride Carried a Bouquet of Doughnuts Instead of Flowers
Forget roses and lilies, this bride’s bouquet was glazed and powdered.
If you are looking for the hottest trend in wedding flowers, skip the blooms all together and opt for something more delicious.
That's exactly what bride Paige Kirk did when she walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet of doughnuts on her wedding day. "Me and my husband Steven thought it would be different, fun and lighthearted," she told BBC News.
Kirk, who lives in Sydney Australia, said she kept the doughnut bouquets a secret from her wedding party but was thrilled that everyone loved her sweet spin on the regular bouquet.
Most brides can tell you that on their big day, they usually don't have enough time to eat. So did she take a few nibbles of her edible bouquet?
According to Kirk, she and her wedding party had great restraint and didn't devour the doughnuts. "We had plenty of goodies beforehand so we were too full to eat them," she said.
The edible bouquets were created by a Sydney company called Dessert Boxes, who ran a competition to find a bride who wanted a fun spin on the traditional wedding flowers. While they received more than 250 applicants, Kirk was the big winner.
When the pictures from Kirk's wedding were posted, the quickly viral. The newly married couple said they are shocked by the reaction but love that so many people enjoyed their sweet day.
A lot of coupled freeze part of their wedding cake and eat it together on their first anniversary. We wonder if they will include a piece of the bride's bouquet, too!
