Jennifer Garner’s Pretend Cooking Show is a Slice of Happiness on the Internet
Now we want to try all of these recipes.
If you are looking for a little extra joy in your life, may I recommend hopping over to Instagram and just scrolling through Jennifer Garner's Instagram feed? From Tutu Tuesdays where she narrates videos of incredible dancer performances to little snippets into her life as a mom and celebrity, her entire Instagram feed reminds me that the internet can be a place of happiness. But of all the posts you will find on Garner's Instagram, you will love the latest internet sensation--Garner's #PretendCookingShow.
Garner, who is a mom of three, often says in the short videos that she is not a pretty baker, but likes whipping up meals and snacks for her kids that contain "ingredients you know and can pronounce." While you can watch cooking videos anywhere or find these recipes on Pinterest, there is just something about the fun and ease when Garner films these short clips.
And the internet agrees because each video receives thousands of likes and comments. While we are used to seeing her on the big screen, fans are really loving seeing this side of the actress through her social media.
According to Garner, the inspiration for the videos comes from her love and admiration for Food Network star Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten. Often Garner makes some of her favorite recipes that are inspired by the Barefoot Contessa or she explains how she's adapted the recipes from food Garner's mother made for her when she was a child.
In one episode Garner gushes "I'm not an expert but if you want to make your family happy over and over again this is one recipe that if you get it down, you can do anything with it. And it's by Ina. Love you Ina!" says Garner before kissing her copy of the Barefoot Contessa's cookbook.
The most recent episode is a recipe for granola bars drizzled in chocolate that Garner says is perfect to pass back to your kids while in the car. While most store-bought granola bars are worth skipping, these look yummy and I might even be inspired to try to whip up a batch thanks to the #PretendCookingShow.
