Chicken noodle soup is a staple in our house when the weather starts to get chilly or someone isn't feeling well. The combo of broth, noodles, and chicken makes it the perfect comfort food. But as delicious as homemade chicken noodle soup is, we don't always have the time to make soup from scratch. So if you're looking to jazz up canned soup or even add a little something extra to your usual recipe, here are five delicious changes to take your chicken noodle soup from boring to brilliant.

Add Some Herbs

Start by melting a little butter in a pan and add some fresh herbs like ground pepper, oregano, thyme, and basil. Mix the sauteed herbs into the broth to add flavor to a boring canned soup. You can also toss a sprig of rosemary or fresh sage into the pot while you heat up the soup. Whether you add the herbs together or separately, you can really change and personalize the flavor of your soup.

Upgrade Your Chicken

Usually, the chicken that comes out of the can leaves a lot to be desired. But you can easily add your own chicken for more flavor and protein. Keep it easy but super tasty by shredding a rotisserie chicken from your grocery store and let it simmer in your soup.

Sprinkle on the Cheese

To liven up a bland can of soup, add some spicy pepper jack cheese. You can stir the cheese into the soup or just sprinkle it on top for a creamy and spicy soup.

Take Your Soup South of the Border

Change up the usual chicken noodle soup completely by adding frozen corn, tortilla chips and avocados to make Mexican chicken noodle soup. You can even add a can of stewed tomatoes to really enhance the flavor.

Add a New Flavor

Try adding coconut milk, lime juice, or even curry to your canned soup to elevate the flavors and creates a different taste. This is the perfect remedy when you are simply tired of your old favorite.
