We challenge you and your family to find random acts of kindness to perform today and every day! Big or small, each random act of kindness is an easy way to spread more joy and kindness into the world. If you need a little inspiration, here are 10 ways to get involved.
Create a Diaper Goodie Bag
As parents, we’ve all been there. We are out with our baby and they have a major diaper blow out. Hopefully we are prepared with diapers, wipes, and even a change of clothes. However, what happens when our diaper bag isn’t fully stocked? That's where the Diaper Goodie Bag comes in handy. Fill a gallon sized plastic bag with everything a parent may need during a diaper change when they are out with their baby — diapers, wipes, sample size of diaper cream, hand sanitizer, disposable changing pad, even an extra onesie — and leave the filled bag in a location where a mom in need can find it. Maybe at the Target bathroom changing table or at the public library. Be sure to leave a little note explaining the contents are for parents who need something for their baby and they can leave the other items for the next parent. This random act of kindness will surely make a crappy situation a little better.
Cover Their Coffee
If you are in line to grab a cup of coffee, offer to pay for the order of the person behind you. This small act will surely brighten their day and you can feel good knowing you did something to make another person’s day a little nicer and a little more caffeinated.
Puppy Love
Check out your local humane society and dog shelters to see what items they may need. Then search your home to see if you can make any donations or head out to the store to choose a few dog and cat toys that will be donated to animals in need. If you have extra time, offer to volunteer to take a few dogs for walks. A walk outside will be good for you and for them.
Send a Text
If there is someone in your life that has been going through a rough patch and may need someone to talk to, send a text. Maybe a funny meme would make them laugh or just let them know you are thinking of them. It’s so easy and such a great way to connect with someone who could use a smile.
Leave a Review
If there is a local business that you love, leave a review on their social media and/or on a site like Yelp or Google. Small businesses need these reviews to gain more customers and grow their business. Taking a few moments to leave a great review is a kindness your local business will greatly appreciate.
Clip Coupons
If you have coupons laying around your house that you won’t be using, share the wealth — or the discount. During your next shopping trip, leave the coupons on the shelves next to the products so another shopper can take advantage of the savings.
Sweet Treat
Treat your postal carrier or delivery person to a sweet treat when they drop off your mail or packages. Simply bake up cookies, muffins, or grab a treat at a local bakery and leave in a bag outside with a note of thanks for delivering to your house day after day. It’s a sweet way to make their day.
Sidewalk Messages
Here’s one that kids will love doing. Break out the sidewalk chalk and let kids write kind messages and pictures for neighbors. This random act of kindness won’t cost you a thing, but will make your neighbors smile when they pass these words of encouragement and kindness.
Treat a Teacher
Reach out to your child’s teacher or to your child’s school to see if there are any supplies they may need for the classroom. Gather those supplies or reach out to other parents to see if they can donate items to the school as well. If a few parents donate items, teachers will have a lot of the supplies they need to keep their classrooms going.
Make Kindness Rocks
Take your kids out for a walk and gather rocks along the way. When you get home, let them use paint and markers to decorate the rocks. Write encouraging messages on each of the rocks, and then head back out to leave the rocks in places that others will find their kindness rocks. Kids can even make kindness rocks for their friends and family and leave the rocks outside their home. This crafty surprise will put a smile on the face of anyone who receives a rock.
