As a father of 14 and one of the stars of TLC’s Doubling Down with the Derricos, Deon Derrico isn’t shocked by questions surrounding his family of multiple multiples. During an Instagram Live interview with DJ Envy, one of the three hosts of the NYC-based radio show, The Breakfast Club, Deon answered everyone’s burning questions surrounding his large family’s dynamic.

Deon and his wife Karen are parents to 15-year-old Darian, 10-year-old Derrick, 9-year-old twins Denver and Dallas, 7-year-old quintuplets Daician, Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, and Daiten, 4-year-old Dior and Diez, and 1 1/2-year-old triplets Dyver, De’Aren, and Dawsyn. When asked if they wanted to have 14 kids during the interview, Deon says, "it was all in divine order."

"It’s something that stemmed from me very young," Deon shared during the interview. "And as I got older, I got into affirming — affirmations and basically understanding the law of attraction. And so not even knowing I was doing it, but knowing I was doing it, I created it — but didn’t know it was going to be a traffic jam of children. I always wanted this though. I just never imagined the multiples like we have."

Based in Las Vegas, Deon works as a real estate agent, while Karen is a stay-at-home mom. Deon notes Karen’s preference to only have family members watching the kids — Deon’s mom Gigi and close friend Eric Jefferson are part of the mix. Commuting requires them to have several vehicles — including their 15 passenger van and 7 passenger minivan — and the monthly grocery bill exceeds their mortgage. When it comes to keeping peace within the household, Deon notes his and Karen’s push to make sure the kids are treated equally, while keeping respect and open communication at the forefront.

"I’m able to be home with my children," Deon says. "There is no one in this household that’s on the street not attended for and doing things that I don’t know of. Those are some of the biggest challenges that our single parents face."
