In addition to featuring fun ghost stories, the hotels are in gorgeous towns that have nightlife and scenery. From hiking in stunning Colorado to visiting the most festive parades in New Orleans’ French Quarter, you’ll be busy celebrating the haunted holiday all weekend long!

The Omni Grove Park Inn

Asheville, North Carolina

Georgians have heard about The Pink Lady of Grove Park Inn from an early age. She is a good-natured ghost whose spirit is said to have haunted the hotel since the 1920s. She is said to have fallen to her death around room 545, where she is most often felt. Guests have reported seeing a pink, smoky form, as well as felt a cool breeze or static charge on their skin. Multiple guests have also reported experiencing light tugging on their ears. Regardless of whether or not you are graced with The Pink Lady’s presence, the hotel is absolutely stunning and has hosted guests from F. Scott Fitzgerald to President Barack Obama. The hotel also has a 43,000-square foot subterranean spa and a gorgeous on-site restaurant.

The Stanley Hotel

Estes Park, Colorado

The Stanley Hotel is home to one of the most iconic horror movies of all time: The Shining. The hotel has suffered its own tortured past, having been opened initially in 1909 before becoming decrepit due to lack of care in the 1970s. Luckily, Stephen King paid the hotel a visit and was inspired to write the bestselling novel that ultimately inspired Stanley Kubrick’s terrifying portrayal of the property. During the fall, the hotel hosts ghost and history tours, as well as concerts, balls and murder mystery dinners.

The Queen Mary

Long Beach, California

Even the sunshine of the California coast can’t scare away the ghosts of The Queen Mary. While it used to be used as a cruise liner, in World War II it was transformed into a grey troopship, earning the name “Grey Ghost.” The ship is said to be one of the most haunted places in America due to past shipwrecks and potential murders.

The Carolina Inn

Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is one of the most gorgeous places to visit in the fall—and it’s even more beautiful if you’re lucky enough to stay at The Carolina Inn. This is known as one of the most haunted hotels in North Carolina. It’s said to be haunted by Dr. William Jacocks, who is particularly drawn to room 252. Don’t worry, he’s playful and seems to like locking guests out of their rooms. To combat his antics, the hotel installed an electronic lock on the room—but don’t worry, it still manages to frequently and mysteriously malfunction.

New Orleans, Louisiana

The Hotel Provincial in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a hospital for the Confederate army during the Civil War. It’s also located in the French Quarter of Louisiana, which is said to be one of the most haunted places in America.
