Amazon Prime Day is right around the corner and, as any good shopper knows, you’ve got to be prepared. So, in order to snag some great deals and save cash, here are some tips and tricks that will help you tackle Prime Day.
Know When to Shop and Sign Up
Amazon Prime Day officially begins on Tuesday, July 11 and will end on Wednesday, July 12. Remember, Prime Day deals are only available to Prime members. If you’re not a member, you can sign up for a 30-day trial here.
Use Amazon’s App
The Amazon app will be your shopping friend during Prime Day. The app has a deal-watching feature that lets you know when deals go live on products you’re interested in, so you never miss out no matter what you’re doing.
Make a List
If you are shopping for the holidays or shopping for yourself, start by making a list of the items you would like to buy. Seeing items on sale can be exciting and lead to over-shopping and overspending. So, create your list before you shop so your wallet doesn’t take a hit.
Check Prices before Prime Day
Since the items on sale and their prices aren’t revealed until Prime Day begins, make sure you are actually saving money by checking prices before the sale starts. Often, prices fluctuate on Amazon and if you know pre-sale prices, you can decide if the Prime Day deal is good.
Add Items to Your Cart
An easy way to keep track of the items you are interested in is to put them all in your cart ahead of Prime Day. This way, you can see if those items are on sale and snatch them up before they sell out.
Catch the Best Lightning Deals
Some of the deepest discounts can be found on Lightning Deals, but the problem is that they are short-lived and have limited inventory. So, to make the most of Lightning Deals, open your Amazon app, click on "Today's Deals," select "Upcoming," then tap "Watch This Deal" on any item that's more than 10 minutes away from going on sale. When the Lightning Deal starts, you’ll get an alert and can act fast if you want to buy.
Be Open to Competitors
If you have a particular item in mind that you are hoping to snag during Prime Day but are bummed to see that the price hasn’t dropped, scroll down and check competitors to see if their same item is on sale.
Save Big Other Places
Amazon isn’t the only company that is offering big deals during Prime Day. Target, Walmart, Kohl's, Macy's, and JC Penney will have their own sales worth checking out as well.
