A Safe Summer
When my baby was born in March, the cold winter season was still lingering in our city. We stocked up on every item we could find to keep her warm. But now that spring has passed and summer is here in full-force, I’ve found myself eager to buy the best items out there to keep my baby cool.
I’ve repacked my on-the-go baby bag with products that work well to block her from the sun during hot afternoon strolls or weekend trips to the beach. Here are the five items that I plan to use all summer long.
A Portable Fan
When the family is taking long walks around the neighborhood or even sitting outside to eat lunch, having a portable fan has been a game-changer. We bought one with flexible legs that can easily attach to anything, from the stroller to the car seat or even just stand up on its own next to the picnic blanket.
Plus, the fan has different settings, so we can adjust it based on the temperature outside, and isn’t noisy when it’s on.

A Sun Hat
I’m very cautious of having my baby in the sun and don’t want her to get a sunburn when she’s outside. In addition to using sunscreen, I also always put a hat on her head, especially when she’s in the baby carrier.
I found a wide brim hat with UV protection that helps protect her face, neck, and eyes from sunburn. The hat also has a chin strap so it stays on even when we’re walking through a windy spot.

Inflatable Bathtub
Since we’re planning on taking a few trips this summer, I got a small inflatable baby bathtub. Not only will we use this for nighttime baths when we’re at hotels, but also as a way for the baby to cool down during very hot days.
Since she’s too young to swim, we can take this inflatable tub with us to the park, fill it up with a little water, and safely hold her in it so she can get wet and have a fun time in the water.

A Beach Tent
A lot of the summertime adventures we’re planning this year will take place at the park or at the beach. That’s why we invested in a baby beach tent, which easily pops open and provides constant shade and sun protection for the baby.
The fabric is breathable and the tent provides UV sun protection. Plus, it was very compact when we folded it up and stored nicely in our garage.

A Tummy Time Play Mat
Since most of the baby’s toys are great for any season, I wanted to pick up one special item that’s perfect for summer. I found a tummy time water mat that was highly-rated on Amazon. You fill the inside of the mat with cold water and when the baby lays on top of it, it doesn’t get them wet. Instead, the water cools them down.
Not only can we take this mat with us on-the-go, but it can help with the baby’s sensory development, which is something we’re actively working on at 4 months old.
