Empty Nesters Celebrate their New Freedom with the Most Hilarious Announcement
We can't get enough of this.
After dropping their youngest child off for his first year of college, Jeff Piper told his wife Vicky they needed to commemorate their new found freedom. So these brand new empty nesters decided to have a little fun with their new status and held a photo shoot in their back yard. The results--the most hilarious Facebook announcement that empty nesters everywhere are loving.
"20 years ago we didn't have gender reveal parties, portraits in beautiful fields with baby shoes to announce a pregnancy," the couple captioned the series of photos on Facebook. "Nor did we have baby photos on a blanket with a circle around a number showing how old they were. We drove our babies to sears or Olan Mills to get their photo. So in honor of our next chapter ...here you go"
Holding a chalkboard sign that reads "Empty nest August 2018" and cradling an actual empty bird's nest, the hilarious duo smile and kiss for the camera in each photo. Clearly these pictures struck a chord with so many parents going through the same phase of life because the posts has received over 211 thousand likes and 19 thousand comments from users loving their fun spirit and creative play on social media announcements.
The Springboro, Ohio, couple has been married nearly 25 year and has one daughter studying abroad and their son just started college in Michigan. So what is up next for the couple that hasn't had an empty next in twenty years--lots of date nights.
"My husband and I had been really talking about what life would look like for us," Vicky told PEOPLE. "He was just like, 'I would love to just be able to date you all over again. It's going to be good, and we'll have time to go do stuff for us.' "
Swoon! High fives to Jeff for giving the best answer ever.
While many of the couples friends and family were worried how the Jeff and Vicky would handle this new change in their life, we think these two will be just fine.
